THE PSALMS OF THE CROSS

Recently, the Lord has been teaching me on the prayer of faith and I’ve been studying and meditating on same. Looking at the life of Jesus, the most agonizing experience He had was when he hung on that cross- bleeding, forsaken by God and man, bearing the nature and punishment of sin for all mankind… literally, there was nothing comely about him in every way. He was so wounded and battered; he looked like a piece of meat hanging on a log of wood. In that state, he did something worthy of note. Instead of accusing the Father of abandonment or raining curses on the soldiers and bystanders, He went into the scriptures and started reading and living the psalms!

“My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? Why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring”… Psalm 22:1 (ref Matthew 27:46).

“They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink”… Psalm 69:21 (ref John 19:28-29).

“He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken”… psalm 34:20 (ref John 19:33-36).

“For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet. I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me”… psalm 22:16-17 (ref John 19:37).

“They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture”… psalm 22:18 (ref Matthew 27:35).

“Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth”… psalm 31:5 (ref Luke 23:46).

“They shall come and shall declare His righteousness to a people yet to be born–that He has done it [that it is finished]”… psalm 22:31 [AMP] (ref John 19:30).

He defied the pain, shame and imminent death and held on to His profession of faith. His condition did not delete the word of faith from his heart or mouth. And as He kept confessing, He started living the word… He started fulfilling scriptures. The key to living and fulfilling the word of faith you have received, is your CONFESSION OF FAITH! Do not let your temporal experience steal the word of faith from your lips. No matter what you are passing through; there is a scripture for it. Seek it, find it, and keep confessing it IN FAITH!
