“RUE E” (LET’S PRAISE HIM)

Pastor Iyke Igie-Ogiugo has just released his much anticipated music album themed Let’s Praise Him or “Rue e” in Benin language (the historical city of the old Benin Kingdom) south-south Nigeria.

Of himself and his new music, Iyke has this to say, “I am a home grown, raw talent, choir product, and in fact, a church boy- because there I had my footing and first exposures.

I have been a soloist, backup, conductor, and even attempted at some time down the line at being a drummer, so before any other privilege of working with a music group/choir and renown music ministers within and outside our immediate locality. Certain individuals invested and imparted my life and music career directly and indirectly. My music mama, permit me to address her so – Pastor Mrs Theodora A. Omobude, was my first trainer ever in music from church choir, and remain my music pastor till date. She’s my pastor’s wife (Rev Dr Felix Omobude is the President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN). They are my spiritual parents.

Also, my first music director Deacon Palmer Omoruyi right from church of God Mission (Gospel House, Iyaro) in Benin city, and after, New covenant Gospel Church.

EXPERIENCE:- Iyke has worked with Ori Okoro, first female gospel artiste to have been so recognized in the 1990s by Performing Musicians Employers’ Association Of Nigeria, PMAN. Ori Okoro is a versatile singer, one time Presenter for (BBC), and Contemporary of the likes of Onyeka Onwenu. She has trained and raised young and talented singers. I met her then at New Estate Baptist Church, Surulere- Lagos, she was the music Director/Coordinator of group called the Proclaimers,  Christian music missionaries to the neglected in society e.g. Koma Hills concert in 1990’s with Yeside May (now Pastor Mrs. Yeside Odiase), Segun Akintola now in Ireland, and many others. We all served in same Baptist Church & music Ministry. In all of these I feel blessed for God’s grace that located me quite early in life, and preserved me in his steadfast love with unsearchable riches.

“RUE E” Project:

It is one project (music album) with different content inside one package, still unfolding, undergoing processes with something for everyone. For instance, almost all the songs comes with some extra, in fact, the lyrics of some of these recorded songs, initially were motivational thoughts or statement turned into songs. These recorded songs were not in my initial collections with exception to “Vbe no yo ye and Eghe”, I had advanced two CDs containing some songs and sent at different times to my eventual producer for consideration about a year earlier before we finally agreed and commenced work which produced’’ Rue e’.
